helmet hair is sexy.

So, this happened yesterday…

(Please disregard the crusty sweat and make-up stains!)

No, no, I didn’t crash my bike, thank goodness.

Instead, my Giro Atmos helmet somehow found its way from its home on the bike rack…

…to the garage floor, where I ran over it with my car. Argh! Not. Happy.

However, there is a sunny side to squashing my helmet. That baby is STRONG. Sure, the foam is smashed to smithereens on the inside, but the outside polycarbonate shell is still solidly intact.

If I’m ever in a bike accident – and let’s hope that never, ever happens – I am positive the Atmos will protect my head.

Impressed with its toughness, I replaced my three-season-old Atmos today with the exact same Atmos and already wore it on a test ride (there was no way I was going a day without a helmet, especially on such a perfect evening for cycling).

The pluses: Great fit + good venting (26 wind tunnels!). And, the updated Roc Loc 5 fit system with the rear twist dial (my destroyed model had a tension system that clicked closed for a snug fit) makes finding a customized, comfortable fit a cinch.

At $180, it’s a pricey helmet, yes, but it’s worth every single penny.

Reminder to EVERYONE who rides a bike, even if it’s only a few blocks: Always, always wear a helmet! Besides, helmet hair is kinda sexy 🙂

My bro got thrown off his bike on our Sunday ride at 20mph. Thankfully, he’s ok, just bumps and bruises (nothing hurt but his pride ;). But he was thankful to be wearing his helmet, too. It should be mandatory while riding a bike!

    • Oh, gosh, Matt! I’m so glad your brother is ok! Scary. And, I couldn’t agree more… helmets should be mandatory for cyclists.

  3. You should be the poster child for helmets – you make them look very good! 🙂
